DIAMOND RING, MONTURE BOUCHERON, 1940s

This ring is currently one of my favourites. It was auctioned at Sothebys in december 2009. The ring was designed by Boucheron on commission to fit the old cut diamonds set on a pair of earrings during the 1940's. It has a heavy monture to support all the weight of the stones which are arranged symmetrically on the crown in such a way that they bring up each others light. The overall result is stunning, heavy and excessive, yet so elegant that one can wear it daily as a complement to any outfit.
A good proof that crazy idea that could have been a disaster, can be executed to perfection by a master and turn into an eternal piece.
